Prof. Dr. Prihartini Widiyanti, drg., M.Kes., S.Bio., CCD., a lecturer in the Biomedical Engineering Undergraduate Program, Department of Physics, Faculty of Science and Technology, Airlangga University, continues to make real contributions to the community through various community service programs that focus on village empowerment, public health, cultural preservation, and appropriate technology.
Through a sustainable community service program in Kare Village, Madiun Regency, Prof. Prihartini and her team initiated participatory and collaborative ecotourism development. Various activities were carried out, including mentoring MSMEs, health education and stunting prevention, environmental management, tourism safety training, community skills development, and utilizing renewable energy through the distribution of solar cell lamps.
This commitment is also demonstrated through various community service programs spanning Surabaya, Mojokerto, and even Timor-Leste. The activities undertaken include water conservation, health technology, the preservation of batik and terracotta traditions, the promotion of MSMEs, and health education for the international community.
Through an approach that integrates science, technology, health, culture, and community empowerment, Prof. Prihartini demonstrates that higher education institutions play a vital role in creating sustainable change and improving the community’s quality of life.
Because the greatest impact of science is achieved when its benefits can be directly experienced by the community.
