Pekanbaru, October 15, 2026 – The commitment of the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Biomedical Engineering at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) to developing and disseminating knowledge in biomedical technology was once again demonstrated through the participation of one of its faculty members, Prof. Khusnul Ain, as a guest speaker. She served as a resource person for a guest lecture organized by the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Riau, on October 15, 2026.

During the event, Prof. Khusnul Ain presented a topic titled “Innovation in Electrical Impedance-Based Medical Diagnostic Technology: Physical Principles and Their Development.” This theme explores the connection between physical principles—specifically the characteristics of electrical impedance—and the development of modern instrumentation and medical diagnostic technologies.

In his presentation, Prof. Khusnul Ain discusses how the principle of electrical impedance can be utilized as a foundation for developing technology to identify the characteristics and conditions of biological tissues. This approach holds significant potential for supporting the development of non-invasive medical diagnostic methods, thereby offering a more comfortable examination alternative for patients.

In addition to covering the theoretical foundations and physical principles underlying electrical impedance measurement, the material also addresses aspects of innovation and technological development—ranging from measurement concepts and the use of electronic instrumentation to potential applications in the healthcare sector. This discussion highlights the importance of a multidisciplinary integration of physics, electronics, biomedical engineering, and medicine in the creation of innovative medical diagnostic technologies.

This guest lecture serves as an opportunity for undergraduate Physics students at the University of Riau to broaden their understanding of the applications of physics within the biomedical field. By exploring perspectives that link fundamental physics concepts with the requirements of healthcare technology, students are encouraged to grasp that the development of medical technology necessitates interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as the ability to integrate theory with engineering practice.

The participation of Prof. Khusnul Ain as a speaker reflects the contribution of academics from the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Biomedical Engineering at Universitas Airlangga toward strengthening academic networks and inter-institutional collaboration. Furthermore, this activity serves as a means of disseminating the results of advancements in biomedical science and technology to the broader academic community.

Through academic activities such as this, the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Biomedical Engineering at Universitas Airlangga continues to encourage the active participation of its faculty members in advancing scientific knowledge, fostering educational collaboration, and disseminating innovations in biomedical technology. It is hoped that this academic engagement between Universitas Airlangga and Universitas Riau will pave the way for further cooperation in the fields of education, research, and the development of healthcare technology in Indonesia.
